Planetary Ring Gear with Outer Teeth

Our VEX IQ Team 839A designed a swerve drive for VEX IQ but the motor wires would get twisted when it turned. To solve this problem, they designed a new ring gear that allows the swerve drive module to be able to do infinite spin and the motor wires are not twisted. This is part of the VEX 2020-2021 online challenge VEX IQ Challenge “Make It Real” CAD Engineering Challenge Sponsored by Autodesk® submission, details of the submission could be found here.

About VEX IQ Team 839A

Team 839A is a VEX IQ Robotics team from Markham, Ontario. Students on this team study engineering, design, and coding, competing in local competitions in Richmond Hill, Vaughan, and Toronto, as well as in international championships in the United States. The students range from 10-12 years old, and learn many key engineering techniques while enrolled in our programs. Students begin with basic coding and design processes, before moving deeper into advanced programming and sophisticated mechanical components.
